aakash ganga (gujarati)

The song was written by Ninu Majumdar to promote National Unity. It was originally composed by Kanu Ghosh who led a choir to perform this song for All India Radio.

Set to a Melodious slow tune, this Gujarati song talks about the cosmic Milkyway, Sun, Stars and evening twilight .. whom does it belong to? The land, rivers are ubiquitous and belongs to everyone..hopes & downs are part of life.. The clouds and rainbows are beautiful with its multiple colours.

Aakash ganga surya chandr taara

sandhya ushara koi na na thi

Koni bhoomi khoni nadhi koni sagar dhara

Bheed keval shabd aamara tamaara

Ej hasya ej rudan aasha e nirashaa

ej maanav urmi faan mitr baasha

meghdhanu andar na hoy kadi jango

sundarta kaaj vanya vivid rango

    1. Aakash ganga surya chandra taara
      Sandhya usha, koi na nathi
The milky way, the sun moon and the stars
Dusk and dawn, they belong to no one in particular

Koni bhoomi, khoni nadi, koni sagar dhara
Bhed keval shabd, aamara ne tamaara
Whose earth, whose rivers, whose seas and oceans?
Divided only by words, ours and yours

Ej hasya ej rudan, aasha e nirashaa
Ej maanav urmi, pan bhinn baasha
Joy and sorrow, hope and disappointment
Same human emotions, expressed in different languages

Meghdhanu andar, na hoy kadi jango
      Sundarta kaaj banya, vividh rango
There is no conflict (among colours) in a rainbow
The different colours have been created to express beauty
